Unofficial Hiatus

I know I haven't posted for a while. Summer's been a bit busy for me. I was out of state for 3 weeks, and for the rest of the time I've been working on assorted craft projects and other things that kept me busy. I have started a couple of new dramas, but it's taking me a LONG time to finish them. So please bear with me as I take my time watching. Enjoy the rest of your summer (unless you're in the southern hemisphere then enjoy your winter) and happy drama watching!

Technically, I'm supposed to be offline right now, but I realized I forgot to mention that September is my "away from internet" month. This is why I haven't posted all this month. I will return to posting in October. In the meantime, enjoy the archives and look forward to a new feature when I return.

Happy Birthday to Song Seunghyun

Thursday, August 20, 2015
I'm not one to pay attention to celebrities' birthdays - even my favorite ones'. I'm just not a person who does that sort of thing... I can barely remember my relatives' birthdays! :) But if I do notice that one has a birthday coming up I will do a shout out.

August 21 is FTIsland's Song Seunghyun's birthday. Since it's Aug. 21 in S. Korea now I'll wish him a happy birthday now.

Happy Birthday Seunghyun!
(you cute little devil)

He's my favorite out of FTIsland. But he's too young for me to obsess about (Gackt isn't! - ha ha). So I call the FTIsland boys my cute little babies... as if I was their mom or auntie or something (^.^).

*on an unrelated note: I finished a drama quite a while ago, but haven't had the motivation to do a write-up on it yet. It's been a tough few months lately with my depression, so please forgive me. I honestly lost all desire to do the things I love.

Fuben na Benriya (2015) - Japanese Drama

Monday, August 3, 2015
As of today, it's been two weeks since I finished watching this drama. So I'm posting this blog entry later than I expected. Sorry! (-_-)

Also, you'll have to pardon me - I didn't take screen shots while I watched the drama. I was too impatient to take a lot of time with screen shots - so some of these images are taken from an image search and the rest are ones I managed to capture myself.

I watched Fuben na Benriya with my husband. Well, I started watching it by myself, but after the first 2 episodes I just had to share it with my husband. So I re-watched those episodes again with my husband and we continued watching the rest of it together. ^.^

The story starts with Takeyama Jun getting stuck in a small rural town with "no name". Obviously it has a name, but it is not a town he has ever heard of. Jun is an entry level screen-writer who is not having much success, so he decides to take a break and takes a bus to Furano located in the Hokkaido prefecture. But thanks to a blizzard the bus has to stop and wait for the storm to pass. Jun is impatient and decides to get off the bus and take shelter in the no-name town. He ends up in a bar and is given a surprise welcome!

There he meets Umemoto Suichi whose nickname is Batsu-san because he's been divorced 3 times. I looked around a bit and as near as I can guess Batsu comes from the term "ribetsu". San is obviously the Japanese word for the number "three". If I'm wrong about the "ribetsu" I'd be more than happy to be corrected :). Anyway, Batsu-san mistakenly believes that Jun is his long lost son. But Jun denies the fact saying his father passed away when he was about 2 years old. But this father-son question is the central theme of this show. Whether or not Batsu-san and Jun are connected in any way we have yet to find out.

The other person we meet is Batsu-san's friend and business associate, Matsui Hideo. Matsui is actually the owner of the Diamond Dust Handyman business. He'll take on any job given to him - but in the winter the only jobs available seem to be snow-plowing and dog-walking. So funds are a bit lacking.
(left to right): Batsu-san & Matsui
But his home is really cute though! It looks like a bit like the woodpecker native to that area *^.^*

Since the blizzard prevents any further travel, Batsu-san and Matsui let Jun stay with them and Jun ends up being a helper in the handyman business. For the rest of the series poor Jun meets various eccentric characters and gets involved in awkward and humorous situations. Also, the three men form a fun friendship and their lives are forever changed.

My husband and I both loved this drama immensely. It is humorous and a bit weird. I felt sorry for Jun at times because he was so adamant about his desire to go to Furano. Even though he doesn't want to be in this no-name town and even though his original intention was to find himself in Furano, he somehow finds what he's looking for in this little town. What it is... I won't say. All I will say is that I hope there is a season 2.

Main Characters:

Batsu-san: He's a very kind and helpful fellow, but he takes no nonsense from anybody. He also has a great sense of humor and a youthful personality (he often rides a snowsled down the small hills! fun). Whether or not he is actually Jun's father is moot, but he definitely makes a good father figure. His humor is such that it would typically be called "dad humor". You know those corny jokes that your dad makes? Yeah... he'd be the perfect dad. Batsu-san also has a mysterious past which will be figured out later in the series.

Matsui: He also has a mysterious past and seems to be escaping from it. He was once a film director, so he is somewhat impressed when Jun tells him that he is a screenwriter. He is an honest sort and is liked by everyone. Because business is slow in the winter he doesn't have a lot of money and can't afford to give Batsu-san and Jun much money, so he treats them to nightly drinks at the local bar. But even there his bar tab is getting pretty high. Thankfully the bartender is really nice and is in no hurry for Matsui to pay the tab.

Jun: He's a typical youth of 25 (yes, I know - not all young people are like him). He has high hopes for his career and is prone to complain when things don't work out. He also has a very active imagination which is good because, as a screenwriter, he needs imagination to write good stories. But this imagination gets him into humorous situations and sometimes causes some trouble for others. :)

The three of them together are a great trio. The actors chosen for these roles are just perfect. They play their parts superbly and have great chemistry. Even all the supporting characters are cast perfectly.  It seems they had an enjoyable time filming (whether or not the filming was fun I don't know - but how could they not have fun? it's a fun show!).

I really loved this drama! It made me laugh and provided comedic relief from our drab, dull lives. My husband looked forward to each episode being subbed as much as I did.

My rating 9.5/10 (Slight Spoiler: the ending was left slightly open... so that's why I'm hoping for a season 2)

Episode 2 Preview:

Monday, July 20, 2015
Yeah... I  was going to finish a drama over the weekend, but due to some minor health issues on my part, I had to delay all my plans for watching fun. So give me a few more days and I'll be able to have a drama finished and ready for review. If all goes well anyway...

What Kind of Blogger Am I??

Sunday, July 12, 2015
You Are a Life Blogger!
Your blog is the story of your life - a living diary.
If it happens, you blog it. And you make it as entertaining as possible.
You may be guilty of over-sharing a bit on your blog, but you can't help it.
Your life is truly an open book. Or in this case, an open blog!

Not that I post much on this particular blog lately.  But I'm trying.

and Drama Update: I'm almost done with one drama, so maybe by this weekend I'll have something to actually post about. It's really taking me a long time to watch dramas lately. I'm just having difficulty focusing on anything so my projects (drama, crafts, etc...) are being slowly finished... Plus a new medicine I'm taking makes me extremely drowsy. But I'm still hanging in there!

Gackt ... again

Friday, July 10, 2015
I meant to post this last weekend (july 4, when I posted his happy birthday), but I got distracted by other things. Anyway, Black Stone is one of my favorite Gackt songs. The song is already about 10 years old, but that's okay (some of my favorite songs are older!), it is still one of my favorites of his. It always makes me happy to hear it ^.^

Happy Birthday Gackt

He was born July 4, 1972!!

He's very lovely and one of my faves

Viki and Roku

Tuesday, June 30, 2015
Well I'm pleased as punch. Don't know when Viki connected with Roku, but they must've done it in the last few months (I haven't searched for them on Roku for a while). So now I can watch Viki on my television! Yay!

Live Journaling

Monday, June 29, 2015
One reason I don't post a lot about my daily dealings with anxiety and depression on this particular blog is because I want this to be a happy place. Since most of my thoughts are unhappy thoughts I try to avoid putting them here. Though, I do occasionally talk about how I'm doing in a light way.

But I still need a place to vent my daily/weekly thoughts and emotions no matter how negative they are. I downloaded a journal, but it got lost. So I figured an online journal was the best bet; even if my computer breaks or I lose all my files, at least what I write will be saved online. It's not like I have anything in particular to hide... no scandalous secrets or anything like that. So I set up an account at LiveJournal for all my dark and depressing thoughts. Okay, I'll post happy thoughts there too. But the point of opening it is to sort through my thoughts and hopefully try to come to terms with it all. I'll place a link in my "Links" list on this blog. Right now, since I just opened the account today, I just have one entry posted. But feel free to follow me there if you want. And if you have a LJ account I'd be willing to add you as a friend so you can have a reader too :). Here's the link: And warning: many of my LJ posts will be pretty depressing and not encouraging. It's meant to house my darker thoughts... and it's not necessarily how I am 24/7. My depression and anxiety does NOT define me.
